More about Baruch Krauss

I am a pediatric emergency physician at Boston Children's Hospital, where I trained and have worked for the past 30 years. I am deeply committed to finding ways to relieve children's pain, anxiety, and fear during medical encounters. My work spans both pharmacologic and behavioral approaches, focusing on acute pain management and helping children navigate their emotional experiences during medical care.

What I've learned is that beyond procedures and protocols, the most essential skill we rarely teach is how to build trust with children. Through three decades of practice, I have developed an approach to establishing trust with children that I teach internationally to medical students, residents, and practitioners.

For me, empathy and clear communication aren't just soft skills—they're clinical tools. And in that sense, my work shares a lot with what healthcare clowns do: transforming fear into trust, one connection at a time.
